NAME: Michael Brailey
PROFESSION: Digger driver, Ganger, Plant Operative
ABOUT: I’m mechanically minded and like doing my own bike maintenance, to a certain degree. You can usually find me tinkering in the garage on my ‘mud scooter’ (dirt bike) I’ve used my digger driving skills and experience to help build and maintain MX tracks in the local area. As much as I love riding my bike, I’ve always had an interest in fishing, kayaking, surfing, golf, squash, using the gym and generally keeping active and of course socialising down the pub! I love to travel and see the world. I’ve converted a couple of vans into campers. I spent a lot of the 90’s being a dj (good times), and dj’d with Guru Josh. Now it’s more just for fun. Unfortunately, in my case, old age comes with arthritis but as long as I can hold on, I’ll continue riding and keeping it pinned!
PURSUITS: I’ve always been a fan of Motocross and had a keen interest in anything with an engine! From a very young age, I listened to stories of my dad competing in side car competitions and before long I was messing around on bikes of my own.
It’s only since 2016 that I began to compete. I ride for South Hams, in the South West Off Road (SWOR) Championship, competing on a 250sx 2 stroke, against a range of bikes including newer 450 4 strokes. There are a lot of young riders in my class but there are still some of us ‘old guys’ trying to keep up and still going strong!
MAIN GOAL IN LIFE: Try to stay happy
